Yoga Classes in Swansea, Lake Macquarie
Some days you need to sweat. Other days you need to stretch, breathe and remember you have a nervous system. Yoga at The Kitchen Pilates + Movement gives you both, in a warm, women-only space at The Kitchen at Pacific HQ in Swansea.
Our yoga classes
On our menu, yoga comes in two flavours. Your instructor will let you know which style is on the day, and both are open to all levels.
The Chiller
Slow, soothing and restorative. The Chiller focuses on gentle flow, long holds, breath and deep stretching. It is the class for frazzled weeks, tight hips and minds that won't switch off. Expect to leave a few centimetres taller and a lot calmer.
The Transformer
A stronger, more dynamic practice. The Transformer links breath and movement through flowing sequences that build strength, balance and flexibility. You will still finish on your back in savasana, but you will have earned it.
Why yoga?
Yoga has been practised for thousands of years and is now one of the most popular forms of movement in Australia. It is widely recognised for helping with flexibility, balance and strength, and many women find the focus on breath helps them feel calmer and more present.
Yoga also pairs beautifully with the rest of our timetable. Use it to balance out Mat Pilates, recover from a Cheer & Sweat session, or wind down before Women's Circle on a Tuesday night.
The Kitchen was created by health professional Heather Foord (MMed (W), MSex, BHSc, BComms, DipPilates), so every class is designed with real women's bodies in mind, whatever your age or stage.

What to expect at your first class
Arrive about 10 minutes early so your instructor can say hello and ask about any injuries. Wear stretchy, comfortable clothes; you will practise barefoot. We provide mats, blocks, straps and bolsters, so just bring yourself and a water bottle.
No flexibility required. If you can't touch your toes, you are exactly who yoga is for.
The Kitchen is at Pacific HQ, 29 Josephson St, Swansea, with on-site and street parking and an accessible location. We welcome women from Caves Beach, Blacksmiths, Pelican, Belmont and across Lake Macquarie.
Yoga FAQ
I'm a complete beginner. Which class should I try?
Either! Every class includes options. If you would like to ease in, a slower Chiller session is a lovely starting point, and your instructor will offer simpler versions of every pose.
What is the difference between yoga and Pilates?
Both build strength and body awareness. Pilates focuses on core control and precise, repeated movements, while yoga flows through postures with an emphasis on breath, flexibility and stillness. Many women love doing both, and our timetable makes that easy.
Is yoga suitable during pregnancy?
Many women continue yoga during pregnancy with modifications. Please check with your GP or midwife first and tell your instructor before class so they can adapt the practice for you.
